Musketeers Look to Rebound Against Colorado

The Musketeers (7-1) are traveling to Colorado in search of a bounce back win, as they take on the Buffaloes (6-2) at 9 p.m. tonight. Chris Mack is 11-12 all time in true road games (thank you @RetireFiftyTu for the stat), and will be tested yet again with a tough Colorado squad.

The Buffs are led by Xavier Johnson (weird, I know) and Derrick White, who both average a hair under 15 points per game. Both seniors, Johnson is the team’s second-leading rebounder while White leads the team in assists and steals.

Colorado ranks in the top-15 in the country in terms of rebounding and is ranked 54th in points allowed. That being said, Colorado does have one glowing weakness…

The Buffs just can’t score. They just can’t. They are ranked 139th in points scored and, wait for it, 258th in assists per game.

I don’t know much about how this game works (I was cut from my 7th grade basketball team), but I’d bet that they play a decent amount of isolation.

Or they just can’t score.

Nonetheless, a game against a major conference opponent on the road should never be overlooked. Remember when we traveled to Auburn?

The Musketeers need to shoot the ball better than they did against Baylor, which means JP Macura needs to get back on track. After posting career numbers in his first few outings, Macura shot 2-16 against the Bears, leading to Bluiett and Sumner accounting for 42 of Xavier’s 61 points.

Yeah and shooting 31 percent from the floor as a team doesn’t really help.

I think Xavier will come out firing. They are a flat out better team than Colorado and Chris Mack more than likely lit a fire under their asses.

The game will be aired on the Pac-12 Network. Basically if you want to watch this game you need to go to Dana’s.
